This EBC Trail Ride will be SUNDAY Feb 18th 9:00am

Take a bike ride through the Florida Everglades.


EBC will be joining the organizers of this event, Friends of River of Grass Greenway for this month's ride. ROGG holds monthly rides through the Everglades.

This is a SELF SUPPORTED RIDE riders must bring own hydration, food and repair kits.

This is a 48-mile round trip loop, however GROUP will determine the actual mileage that will be ridden at start. Past rides total mileage ridden has been approx 33 miles.  Allow 3-4Hours for scenic ride, photo taking and breaks.  


Meet by 9:00am at the entrance to West End Loop Rd, the site of the old Monroe Station.

***PARKING UPDATE***  Parking is available at the Monroe Station Meet Up Site on US41

(40 miles West of Krome Avenue) which is the west end of Loop Road.


Additional parking is available at Oasis Visitor Center and Gator Hook (see explanation and map below).



1. PARKING BEST OPTION Park at the Public Lot where the old Monroe Station used to be.   This is adjacent to the ride start.


If there is no parking at Monroe Station alternate options are, 


2. Park at Gator Hook, which is 2-miles past the entrance of West End Loop Rd.  If you park here you can ride 2-miles back to start/meet up point or wait for the group to get to you. 


3. Return towards the Oasis Visitor Center and ride your bike 4 miles on Tamiami Trail to the entrance of West End loop (Old Monroe Station). Our official start/meet-up point.

Helmet is Required, Ride safe! Ride smart!

Much of this ride is on unpaved, rough gravel roads/levees.  Most suitable bikes are mountain and trail bikes.  A hybrid with fat tires  may also be ridden.  Road bikes/road hybrids ARE NOT suitable. Ride is open to anyone 12 years old and above.  Even if you don't ride, donate and join in the post ride fun.

SAFETY GUIDELINES - EBC TRAIL RIDES.

(For Trails, Paths, Gravel, Levees, Dirt Roads)

---- BASIC ITEMS
• Pick the right bike for the ride. (Gravel/Dirt specifics, mountain bike or fat tire bicycle).
• Road ID
• Health Insurance Card, ID, Credit Card, Cash and Phone on a waterproof protected case.
• Helmet
• Gloves
• Eye ware
• Extra Tube and air.
• Basic tools
• Gels, bar, snack
• Hydration (at least one 22oz bottle per hour) or (Camelbak hydration pack)
• Small/Basic First-Aid Pack

---- SAFETY GUIDELINES
• Always wear a helmet.
• Check weather forecast. (Events usually post cancellations due to bad weather one hour before event starts).
• Road ID App. Great features like "Lock Screen" and "Tracking Notifications" (FREE and it works awesome, RoadID .com)
• Have your bicycle inspected for your own safety and the safety of others riding with you.
• Say "NO to Flats" by checking the condition "wear&tear" of your tires and making sure they are properly inflated. No joke, don't be that guy, HA!
• Sunblock and Bug repellent (Trust me on this one).
• Look ahead for slippery or loose surface and potential hazards.
• Pick your distance base on your ability.
• Don't ride alone!
• ALWAYS USE COMMON SENSE.
• Must be self sufficient.
• Have a plan and let others know where you are headed and approximate time.
• Wearing earbuds while ridding a bicycle on public roadways is against the law. In the trails, being aware of yours surroundings is important for safety reasons. Don't wear earbuds, this is good group ride etiquette, courtesy and for your safety and the safety to others.
