2012 Ride of Silence Thank You
- Details
With great appreciation… to all
Thank you all and your selfless effort to participate in the Ride Of Silence Miami 2012. The intention of the Ride of Silence is to bring us all together worldwide in one place and time, to raise consciousness and to remember those who are no longer with us. Being a victim myself mere words cannot express the emotion felt as I witnessed the presence of the hundreds of cyclists of all ages and all cycling levels together riding as one side by side with family members who have lost loved ones as these loved ones did what they loved best…ride a bicycle…
The message was sent loud and clear …that we can count on the Everglades Bicycle Club, Miami -Dade Police, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue E-15B (at the entrance of City of Key Biscayne, Miami-Dade Public Works Department, Miami Seaquarium, Mayor Carlos Jimenez, Coral Gables Commissioner Ralph Cabrera, Green Mobility, Safe Streets Miami, Miami Dade County’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee, Miami Critical Mass, 25th Parallel Bicycle Team, Rose Bandits, Team Sindacato, JB Imports,The Cutler Bay Bicycle Touring Club, Team Velocity, Team JAMA, Miami Pace, Storm Riders, High Gear Cycling, RB Cycles, Mack Cycles, Aaron Cohen Road Safety Initiative, The Miami Bike Scene, Multirace.com, All American Barricades, Florida Bicycle Lawyer, John Voss, (of The Virginia Key Bicycle Club who started this 7 years ago) and most of all of the many more bicycle riders I may have missed in this communication. A special thank you to all of our local media members from Miami Herald, Local 10 Miami, CBS 4, NBC 6, WSVN 7 News, Telemundo, Univision, NPR News for helping us get our message out to all drivers and cyclists alike that we have a right to be on the road and ask that we all share the road, be respectful and patient to each other.
A very special thank you to the family and close friends of Aaron Cohen and Miguel Rocafort may they rest in peace…our thoughts and prayers are with you. We also wish a quick recovery to fellow cyclist Thomas Jennings who was struck by a car in Kendall on the same day as Mr. Cohen. I can only imagine how challenging may be.
We can unite in a peaceful and organized fashion, work together and demand a safer Miami Dade County!! And a safer world!!! Remember without you we have no voice and there would have been no Ride of Silence Miami 2012.
ONE DAY…ONE TIME… WORLDWIDE…our silence has spoken louder than any words could have!!! Until next year...
Thank you!!!
